Director of Development Services

    The Director of Development Services is responsible for managing gift processing, budget and revenue monitoring, gift acknowledgments, prospect management, wealth screening and prospect research, fundraising analytics and reporting, and the development of institutional gift policies and standards. This position supervises a Development Coordinator and temporary gift processing assistants to ensure data integrity and strong analytics and reporting, strategic use of fundraising systems, accurate incoming gift management and timely acknowledgment. The Director of Development Services is a new position in a small but growing department and will report to the Senior Vice President of Development, with a dotted line to the Director of Development. Specific responsibilities include:
    • Supervises all fundraising services, including gift and acknowledgment processing, customer service, and prospect management, data analytics and reporting, and utilization and maintenance of the Salesforce fundraising database.
    • Oversees and supervises a development coordinator, temporary staff and other vendors, including Salesforce consultants.
    • Works closely with ProPublica’s Salesforce consultant to maximize integration with Apsona, Classy, OwnBackup, and SailThru.
    • Produces mailing lists for marketing and fundraising activities, including campaign tracking as needed.
    • Develops systems to import donor data into Salesforce from third-party sources including Benevity, WealthEngine and direct mail NCOA updates.
    • Leads the strategy, development, and maintenance of prospect and donor management and a tracking system to support institution-wide development activities.
    • Tracks revenue, and works with the Development team to forecast annual projections on a monthly basis. Reports regularly to leadership and to the department on progress towards goals.
    • Creates and ensures accuracy and efficacy of fundraising reports and dashboards for the development team, finance staff, and the president.
    • Works with finance staff on creation and monitoring of department budget.
    • Oversees wealth screening activities and other prospect research vendors.
    • Serves as backup to the coordinator and temporary staff on gift processing, customer service, and acknowledgments.
